The 2011 Very Cherry AdMo Popup Shop was a success!
The first of its kind in Adams Morgan, this spontaneous art and retail locale at 2421 18th St NW featured some of the area’s top artisans. The pop up shop welcomed spring time in conjunction with the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Adams Morgan Main Street brought together top talents under one roof to present diversity of artistic expression in unique one-of-kind original fine & whimsical art, photography, ‘green’ artisans, jewelry, sculpture, pottery, kids’/baby clothing lines, bath, beauty & accessories.
More than 50 original artisans participated, all local – offering hand-made items in all price ranges. Rave reviews came from residents, businesses and visitors.
PN Hoffman graciously donated the space to host this community store and allow visitors to come and support small businesses/entrepreneurs. In conjunction with the shop a series of events occurred, such as demos and performances, even story-telling for children.
Channel 5 with Holly Morris did 9 on-site interviews promoting Adams Morgan and local businesses and artists. Click here to see her interview with Adams Morgan Main Street Group President, Lisa Duperier and several of the artists featured.
The AdMo Popup Shop had a huge positive impact on the community. Visit our press page to see an entire list of blog posts and articles from impressed visitors, consumers and neighbors.
We can’t wait to host this awesome event again this coming Spring! You can look forward to even more art and culture as soon as the weather breaks!
Attention! We are looking for sponsors for the 2012 Popup Shop. Support local artists by providing the artists with a venue to promote their work. All sponsor names will be displayed on the retail store’s window. More information to come. Contact our office if you are interested by phone: 202-232-1960, or email: execdirector@ammainstreet.org. Thank you!

“Nationwide, about 30% of high school students drop out, and about 50% of these students leave school before their sophomore year. For underserved, low-income students, the drop out rate is even higher. This must stop.
Founded in 1999, BUILD runs the nation’s largest youth incubators with the mission to use entrepreneurship to excite and propel disengaged, low-income students through high school to college success. We believe that the power of student ideas in action drives youth to reach their fullest potential in school and beyond.”
Students from BUILD will be in the shop from 5:30-7-:00 on Wednesday and Thursday to talk about their unique handmade crafts. Come out and support them while you shop!!
